A project inspired by the film don't look now.
With this pre designed project my task was watch, analyze and interoperate the classic 1973 film 'Don't look now'. With this being just a design project i was not faced with the task of producing the chosen line up.
As far as my interpretation of the film goes there is lots of symbolisms and many deep meaningful sequences, but rather than getting to focused on the films plot i looked more into the location, colour and dress code.
The film was shot and located in venice so there was lots of reflection and dual imagery within the film from the water. The water came across as being a highly emphasized piece showing reflection and also misty transparency. For this looked at both the refraction and absorption of light in water to help me with the decision of fabric research and ideas.
In terms of colour i looked at the era in which it was set to dictate the palette and it being based in the 70's there was a lot of neutral tones, especially due to the fabric types used back then. With most of the male costumes in the film being tailored suits i thought designing suits would be best fitting in response.
